(CHICAGO) – Pigment International today announced that the Fall/Winter 2022 edition of its award winning Pigment Magazine will be released this week. The centerpiece of the issue features an exploration of how Black artists will be instrumental in creating the public square of the future in a piece titled “Capturing a Moment In Time.” Self-identified Igbo Vernacular, Nigerian-based artist Rewa Udoji created the cover work for this issue titled Somoto in Pink Jeans. Her work was most recently exhibited during Art Miami this December. Pigment International’s premier magazine was a 2021 Ozzie Award Winner for “Best Cover Design” for magazines under 225K subscribers. The cover featured the work of internationally acclaimed artist Deborah Roberts.

Galerie Myrtis in Baltimore is the first Black owned gallery to be invited to the ‘Olympics of Art” the Venice Biennale de Arte. Pigments share the story of the artists that will interpret the theme Afro-Futurist Manifesto where the exhibition opens in April. Read how Arternal’s Sean Green is using data driven metrics to transform the art industry and meet two young collectors in our piece “Next-Gen Black Collectors Dive into the Metaverse.” Also, in this issue you’ll get a primer on NFTs, and see how a Northwestern student staged an in-person exhibition in the midst of the pandemic. This issue features art happenings across the country in Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, New York and Atlanta in our feature “Back to Black.” And in our historical profile we focus on the ‘singularity’ of sculptor Augusta Savage. Her work ‘The Harp,’ created for the 1939 World’s Fair in New York was monumentally significant. “At the core of this issue is a quote by Nigerian artist Chinua Achebe who said, ‘until the lions have their own historians the history of the hunt will glorify the hunter’,” said publisher Patricia Andrews-Keenan. “Pigment wants to be one of the scribes telling the story of the Black art ecosystem.” Click here to purchase the Fall/Winter 2021 issue.
